Katie Burk is a musician and artist from Indianapolis. She received her BFA in Painting in 2003 from Ball State University. While working as a local artist, her neighbor introduced her to old-time music and the jam scene. Soon after, she moved Hawaii where she joined a band as the fiddle player to learn jazz, bluegrass, and the blues. Since returning to Indiana, Katie has toured the country with The Whipstitch Sallies and The Half Step Sisters, who placed third on A Prairie Home Companion’s National Duet Competition in 2012. For over a decade, Katie has enjoyed teaching art and music to students of all ages. She currently teaches violin, piano, guitar and voice at Guitarworks in Greenwood.
Katie is a woman of conviction, compassion and talent who loves to see her students develop their skills. She brings with her an infectious enthusiasm for music, and an obvious love for her work. Katie enjoys working with students of all ages and levels, she’s highly organized and committed to using her abilities and experience to further YOUR music education.
